I would like to wish Happy New Year to Tamil, Malayalees and the Sikhs community and friends.

Last Sunday, I was invited to attend a Tamil New Year Celebration at Kawasan D, Kg Sg Nibong Kecil. I was shocked and saddened by what I have seen. After 51 years under BN, the community of Kg Sg Nibong Kecil is still living in poverty. The entire kampung had 1000 homes, 5000 residents, and they were all “urban pioneers” (I hate to use this word: squatters). Kawasan D is mainly Indians, but Kg Sg Nibong Kecil is majority 80% Malays and some small community of Chinese. In short, Malays, Chinese and Indians are just left behind in this kampung.

The kawasan D community was living in a slump area, houses were small and close to each other. There were many old and sick people. A man who was undergoing dialysis every week almost cried in front of me because he just couldn’t afford the bills. A single mother without job asked me to help her feed the family. A lady who recently met accident, ask me to help pay for their hospital bill. There were just too many poor people. They all came up to me to ask for assistant. I did not know how to help them, frankly. I promised to bring the Welfare Department to help them. Hopefully, they will get something.

I too saw hope in the kampung. The hope was with the kids. They were energetic, cheerful and lovely. I urged the parents to focus on the kids and make sure they send the kids to school. I believe education is the only way to ride the community out of poverty.

I also immediately pledge to set up a mini-library at their community center called Dewan Hindu Sangam. I will allocate RM3,000 to buy books to set up this library. Also, I will install an air-cond at their community center so that the kids will have a  good environment to read and study.

I hope by cultivating the habits of reading, they will excel in their school and eventually lift their families out of poverty. Happy Tamil New Year.

Sim Tze Tzin

副首相那吉说，霹雳州变天不是国阵的错，议员跳槽是安华发起的。有的人甚至说安华根本不应该发动916变天，因果报应，国阵以彼之道还治其人之身，现在反而让霹雳跌入国阵手中。现在安华因该为这起事件负责任。这类论调似是而非，混绕视听，对事件没有深入探讨与分析，只能骗骗没有太多资讯的人民，但也让人民看到我们领袖思维逻辑简单。

如果大家还记得，916当天，安华开记者会亲自要求国会下议院议长召开国会特别会议，以让他提呈不信任动议。但是首相一口拒绝。然后，国会复会后，安华在提呈紧急动议，结果又被议长推翻。安华一次又一次的依照宪法程序促成变天，但是，国阵一次又一次的百般阻挠，导致变天被拖延了。民联的变天过程其实都沿用宪法斌与的条规，光明正大。

但是，反观国阵的变天手法，他们首先让议员失踪，再以百般理由如生病，背痛，向母亲拜年然后再派助理应付记者会等等不光明的手法逃避选民。波达区州议员更被骗上车去见那吉。接着，就传出五千万价码收买议员的新闻。这些都是不光明正大的手法。

国阵的正在的好戏就是践踏宪法程序。在霹雳州宪法第16条6，只有3种情况下，州务大臣会被革职。第一，州议会通过不信任动议。第二，大臣呈辞。第三，大臣宣布解散州议会。但是，在国阵的夺权过程中，这三种情况都没有出现。准的来说，这是一场政变。政变由副首相亲自部署，策划，执行。可怜的首相阿都拉好像局外人般，看这政变发生，丝毫不知所措。

那吉运用所有政府机关来对付民联州政府。他运用选举委员会拒绝承认3位州议员的辞职信。这是非常具争议性的。选举委员会的责任是根据议长的指示，不是法官鉴定辞职信是否有效。那吉接下来在苏丹没有委任新大臣前就指示州秘书变节，驱走尚在办公的行政议员，手法非常让人齿冷。

为什么那吉要犯众怒来进行这场惊天动地的政变？

那吉将会在短短的未来一个月成为第6任首相。自308后，国阵并没有改革的决心，一次又一次的失去民意的支持。从巴东埔到瓜丁补选，国阵原本占尽优势，但却一次又一次的输掉议席。最令他难堪的是他发觉他失去巫统的最大基层，马来票大量流失。与此同时，非马来人没有回流的迹象。

这对一个即将接任首相的那吉是非常大的打击。在首相阿都拉宣布退休后，那吉已经是国家幕后真正的领导人。他已经接任主导许多国家重大的决策，瓜丁补选其实是他全盘主动操盘。在他多番努力下，他还是无法扭转乾坤。这些连串打击对一个雄心勃勃的未来首相是严重的打击。

许多巫统的军阀对那吉领导的瓜丁败选彼有微言，他们更虎视眈眈的希望那吉犯错，以便进行逼宫，要重演那吉对付阿都拉的方式。那吉的未来第二号人物幕由丁，穆哈默等已经60岁了，他们没有耐心等候。所以处处想尽办法让那吉下台。在前有民联后有党内军阀下，那吉希望孤注一掷，把霹雳拿下，对党有个交代，顺便缓和党内的压力。

霹雳变天其实是那吉个人政治的豪赌，他不管巫统国阵，只为自己的政治前途博弈。

但那吉的致命伤是他走捷径，以不光明正大的发式夺权。他没有改革巫统的决心，还希望走回老路以高压的手段对付异议者。他继续运用政府机关为夺权工具，他甚至开始管制媒体，许多报馆主编已经开始接到通知，规范专栏作者。警方宣布取消所有政治讲座准证到局势平静为止。

2月4日笑嘻嘻的那吉万万没有想到人民的愤怒竟然是如此巨大。人算不如天算，竟然有一位国会议员病逝，补选即将在政治地震震央霹雳举行。临近的吉打州也有州议席补选。这可是那吉万万预料不到也万万不愿意的。

补选将会成为霹雳变天，那吉政治手段的公投。人民将会表态决定。

Sim Tze Tzin

I chose to wear a Nehru-Sun Yat Sen (中山装) style costume on the first day of Chinese New Year marking a bullish year of reform. Nehru and Sun Yat Sen were all reformists of their respective country. I predict many changes will take place in this year. Whether the changes will be for the better or worse, one thing for sure: All Oxen will let loose!

As we can see on the eve of CNY, Datuk Nasaruddin Hashim crossed over to PKR. Also we are seeing tussle between Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional over the state of Perak now. No doubt, it is a tumulous time. The year of Ox will see more of these tussles, all of the political undercurrents will surface.

The main reason is because of the main political players in this country can no longer wait.

Najib Tun Razak is impatient to take over the top job to stablized his position. He wanted mandate and restore his legitimacy of his reign, especially he just failed badly over Permatang Pauh, KT and Bota. Therefore he needs to deliver Perak to legitimize his accedency. With the slow but sure demise of UMNO, time is not at his side. He needs a prime-priming plan for UMNO.

However, Pakatan Rakyat  would not sit still. Pakatan do not want to see this happen because of the huge liability Najib will bring to this country. Dato Seri Anwar can not sit still and wait for Najib to come after him. He has to play his cards well. Therefore, he is stepping up the pressure.

The tussle is expected to continue, this is just the begining of a bigger game plan. The stake is high. We, as the people would have to bear the uncertainty for a while. I know it is difficult especially when the country is going to face huge economic challenge in year 2009. This is the price to pay for the country to emerge from an authoritarian regime into a democratic country. The Taiwanese and Indonesian are still undergoing this process. It is not perfect, but it is a process we need to undergo.

 Sim Tze Tzin

Chief Minister of Penang YAB Lim Guan Eng will make major policy annoucement on public housing land titles on new year day Jan 1st, 2009. He will make the annoucement during a dialogue with all Residents and Residents Association of PDC’s low and medium low cost flats. He is expected to annouce the details of changing status of landownership from lease hold to freehold.
 
He will make the annoucement together with State Assemblyman of Pantai Jerejak YB Sim Tze Tzin during an event hosted by the state assemblyman. Pantai Jerejak is the constituent with many low cost and medium low cost PDC Flats, estimated to be 54 blocks.
 
The PDC has sent out invitation to all Resident Associations. At the same time, it is also an open invitations to the residents of PDC flats. It is a good opportunity to spend the first morning of the new year with the CM and discuss about public housing problems. It also showed that the Chief Minister is truly concern about the rakyat’s problem even on the very first morning of the new year.

这几天，要勇敢，要改变，要改革是流行口号。版面超多且报道详尽，翻了一面又一面尽是敢怒敢言！兄弟党们突然都勇起来 了， 大家齐声要老大改变。一不留心还以为是反对党对老大叫阵呢，盛况空前，直逼全国大选。

有一个小小兄弟党，大叫“废除内安法令！”响彻云霄，天崩地裂。哈，老大可老神在在，不为所动。小小兄弟党再大吼一声，超过六成党员要退出大家庭。举党动容，小小兄弟党终于有种了，硬起来了，有者更激动到落泪，退吧！大家一起退！

会议一开来，从头到尾，大家等啊等啊，就是完全没有等到“退”字。主席说，退是重要的，留到改天再谈吧，不急不急。主席万岁！

这时，大门一打开，太上老大驾到，超过六成党员夹道欢迎，大家掌声响起，太上老大万岁！太上老大从容不急，打开口腔，宣布小小兄弟党永远留在大家庭！超过六成党员掌声再响起，高呼大家庭万岁，太上老大万岁！有者更激动到落泪，退什么！改天再谈吧！

更有一个不大不小兄弟党，大叫“检讨新经济政策！” 响彻云霄，天崩地裂。老大继续老神在在，不为所动。不大不小兄弟党再大吼一声，一条汉子冲出来，举起长剑，大叫“我是大侠，不是独行侠！”举党动容，不大不小兄弟党终于有大侠来解救，天赐我党也！

会议一 开来，从头到尾多条汉子，引经据典，红学厚黑三国论语，结论就只有三万变三千。一条汉子说，要晓以大义，侠之道也，不急不急。一条汉子万岁！

这时，大门一打开，太上老大驾到，众多汉子夹道欢迎，大家掌声响起，太上老大万岁！太上老大从容不急，打开口腔，宣布有事闭门协商！众多汉子掌声再响起，高呼大家庭万岁，太上老大万岁！有者更激动到落泪，有事协商，有事协商，天下太平！

兄弟党们是汉子，需要时能屈能伸，屈伸看时机，见风要转驼，一条汉子也。

Kebelakangan ini, saya menumpukan perhatian kepada isu kemiskinan. Sempena bulan ramadan, saya meminta sumbangan 300 kampit beras untuk diedarkan kepada golongan miskin, uzur, ibu tunggal dan OKU di kawasan DUN pantai jerejak.

Beberapa majlis sumbangan beras telah dijalankan melalui surau-surau di Sg Nibong, Bayan Baru dan Pantai Jerejak. Saya bersyukur kerana 300 kampit beras ini kebanyakan disumbangkan oleh komuniti Cina. Ini telah menunjukkan semangat muhibah dan keprihatinan pelbagai kaum di kawasan kita. Melalui bancian miskin tegar dan program-program ini, saya semakin memahami isu kemiskinan dengan lebih mendalam.
